New year, new me! … Okay, maybe not. But I can ensure the same old me is looking healthy and nourished by sticking to a regular beauty routine. Join us and hit off January ONNE with our top ten skincare tips and get your 2018 to a beautiful start.

Protect your skin from UV rays

With the Australian summer going into full force this January, it’s important to be sun smart. Prepare for the harsher weather by reading up on our tips for summer skin care. Wearing a hat is the most effective way to protect your face and neck from the sun. Paired with some stylish sunglasses and a light kimono to protect your shoulders, you’ll be set to hit the beach. Remember to always put on sunscreen before stepping out into the sun, and be aware of the ingredients in your sunscreen.

Never go to bed with make up on

We’ve heard all the excuses! It doesn’t matter how late it is or how tired you are, don’t go to bed with make up on. You should never, ever go to bed with make up on. The gunk from your product and the toxins you’ve absorbed throughout the day will get into your pores. This causes breakouts, so don’t say we didn’t warn you! Before you get your snooze on, always wash your face with a cleanser and moisturise. It only takes a few seconds but the benefits are worth a lifetime.

Help heal your skin from within

A healthy life doesn’t begin and end with a thorough skin routine. In addition to looking after our skin, we need to look after our other organs too. Tune in to the Eunoia Edit for our exclusive look at the best anti-aging ingredients, and foods that prevent breakouts. We’ve also shared some recipes from Health Synergy that not only taste super delicious, but are super beneficial for your body. You can find some of our favourite recipes at ONNE and start cooking up your own healthy treats. Bon appetit!

Commit to weekly face masks

There are so many benefits to using a face mask that you just have to make it a part of your week! If you haven’t already, decide on a day to commit to a home facial and stick to it. Quickly you’ll see the magical effects it is giving to your pores. ONNE recommends using a facial mask on a Sunday to wind down at the end of a long week. Pair with a green tea and a dressing gown for the ultimate relaxation day.

Our skin cells can take up to a month to fully replenish, which is lots of time for the skin cells to dry out and lose their glow. Give that moisture back to your skin by exfoliating a few times a week with a body or face scrub. There are many reasons to exfoliate, and using a scrub will kick-start the renewal process for your skin. Bring your ONNE-derful glow into the new year with a regular exfoliation schedule.

Get your beauty sleep

It might sound obvious, but sleep is just as important for your health as eating and exercising. If you’re not getting your 40 winks, your health can start to suffer. Having a regular sleep schedule between 7 and 9 hours is beneficial for your mood, decision making and overall brain function. Being sleep deprived not only causes irritability, it also causes those dark circles to appear under your eyes. Invest in an eye mask and make sure you get the most out of your beauty sleep.

Moisturise your body after showering

Did you know that the best time to apply moisturiser is right after you’ve had a shower? This is because the water is sealed into your skin by the oily lotion, allowing it to hydrate the skin cells. Too much water will dilute the lotion, so gently pat dry with a towel before applying the moisturiser. Simply get into the habit of moisturising after your shower to give your skin the nourishment it needs.

Clean your makeup brushes and your pillowcases regularly

The amount of gunk that gets into your makeup brushes after a few uses is just ridiculous! This new year, make sure to regularly wash your make up brushes at least once a week. The procedure is fairly simple: wet the brush and swirl it across a clean surface such as a paper towel or a cleaning glove. You can add cleaning product designed for makeup brushes or an anti-bacterial soap. Squeeze out all the excess moisture from the bristles and leave it hanging over the sink to dry.

And don’t forget to change your pillow cases! The fabric in pillow cases can get loaded with sweat, bacteria and other nasty toxins. Our hair holds a lot of dirt, and pillow cases have the most contact out of anything else. You should be changing your pillow cases every 2 to 3 days, and your bed sheets once a week.

Stay hydrated

With the sunnier skies comes a dryer weather. The simplest way to stay moisturised this summer is to drink lots and lots of water. Keeping your skin hydrated is the best way to ensure it looks fresh and luscious, as well as feeling healthy. Change it up with a low-sugar smoothie for a healthy blast of fruity goodness.

Stick to my skin care regime this new year

Half the battle with resolutions is sticking with them. You will not see brilliant results after a week of a new regime. In fact, your skin may get worse before it gets better but don’t let this discourage you! Ridding your body of toxins is a process that takes some time. This goes double for if you’re trying new products that you may have received as a gift. It can take a while for your skin to get used to the different formula. In fact, it can take up to six weeks of a new skin routine before you see any results at all, so stick it out. We know you can do it and you know you can do it! You can put sticky notes on your mirror if you forget any of the steps.

How proud will you be of yourself if you can create a habit and stick to it? The answer is ONNE hundred percent!
