Preparing Your Skin For Spring

While we are all excited about the changing of the weather, our skin can experience a lot of changes that can negatively affect it. Here are some of our top tips to help you navigate the changes of seasons this spring.

Spring-clean your cosmetics

The general rule of thumb is; use within six months of opening. Most products do degrade over time due to age and environment including exposure to oxygen, heat, light moisture and bacteria. Overall, it is best to remember that many products do have a physical expiry date, whether stated or not.
Spring clean those cosmetics products, and sunscreens, and discard the things that have been opened for more than six months.
Also, makeup bags can be a haven for bacteria and something that is seldom cleaned so pop it in the washer. If it can’t be put in a washing machine, clean it and let air dry with Nanocyn the only non-toxic TGA registered disinfectant.

Hydrate!

We have spoken about the importance of hydration before, but we cannot stress enough how important it is to keep your hydration levels in your body in check. All your organs need water, not just the skin. The more, the better. Since we sweat more as the temperatures start to increase, there is more need for replenishment 2l of liquids is the daily aim. However, if you are unable to reach this look for alternative sources such as, citrus fruits, apples, watermelons, lettuce and carrots which are naturally packed with water.

Swap out your heavy foundation

Spring is a perfect time to switch out your heavy winter foundation and go for a lighter natural glow. Choose a light foundation with SPF protection. If you need extra coverage, apply a little concealer only to parts of your skin that need it.

Be Prepared for Breakouts

The combination of the glimpses of warmer weather then snap cold again can cause redness, blackheads, red bumps, and much more. Keeping an eye on your skins health daily is essential to minimising the impact on the skin. Keep cleansing your skin thoroughly both in the morning and night and bring in exfoliation and masks as needed.
